Hotel Dashboard - Data Analysis
This is my project for company Y as a freelancer, they required me to create a dashboard to help them track their hotel revenue performance and the seasonality of their guest booking pattern. Company Y is a regional hotel chain based in Europe with a portfolio of guests from around the world. Its mission is to provide comfortable stays for affordable prices.
Business Requests & Details
For this Data Analysis project, business requests & details contain directions from the clients on how to approach the analysis. Based on the table below, I followed the user requirement to fulfill the project as well as to ensure that acceptance criteria were maintained throughout the project.
Additional Notes:
1. The time scope of the analysis was requested from July 2021 - August 2022
2. The 4 files provided in Ms Excel format consist of 2021_data, 2022_data, meal_cost, and market_segment
Data Cleaning & Pre-Processing
Since the files are provided in Ms Excel, I cleaned each file first before loading them to identify incomplete, incorrect, inaccurate, or irrelevant parts of the data and then replacing, modifying, or deleting the dirty or coarse data.
After cleaning, I loaded all files provided to Ms SQL Server for pre-processing purposes. The pre-processing is required to create a necessary data model and to fulfill the business needs in the request.
Combining & Joining all 4 tables
Data Modelling
Once the last step is done, I connected the database from Ms SQL Server to Tableau for visualization purposes. Right after connecting both software, I made a data model first to determine the relationships between multiple data points. The result of this data model was also double-checked with the previous query to ensure accuracy for visualization.
Hotel Performance Dashboard
On to create interactive visualizations that contain all of the requested features in the Business Request & Details. The first picture is the dashboard to give a complete overview of the Resort Hotel type while the second picture is the dashboard to give a complete overview of the City Hotel type.
